5 Excursions to Discover the Sierra de Tramontana
In summer, outdoor outings, mountain camping, and beach sunsets are greatly enjoyed. The Sierra de Tramontana hides wonderful landscapes that meet the necessary characteristics for almost all types of people.
For children, there are easy excursions that end with a dip in the beach; for enthusiasts and athletes, there are more demanding routes; for families and those less accustomed to hiking, there are easy paths to enjoy nature... A whole world intertwined around the majestic Mallorcan mountains.
- 1.Excursion to Teix: We start with a somewhat demanding trail of medium-high difficulty, suitable for people in good physical condition and accustomed to exercising. It is a long excursion, with a stretch that is a bit tougher due to steep inclines, but overall, it is ideal for those who are used to walking.
- It is a total of fourteen kilometres that can be completed in six or seven hours. There are two paths to start the excursion: the Archduke’s Path or Els Cairats, which passes by the refuge and public estate of Son Moragues.
- 2.To the Comuna de Fornalutx: This is a very easy excursion that runs along cobbled sections, which are part of the Mallorcan dry stone route. When you reach the Sa Bassa area, you will discover wonderful views over Biniaraix, Fornalutx, and the Sóller valley.
- The path is quite good and allows you to enjoy the Sierra de Tramontana for much of the way. You only need to be careful in the last stretch, approaching the torrent, as it is not well-defined, and you need to watch where you step.
- 3.From the Mirador de Ses Barques to Sóller and the Port of Sóller: It is an easy path with wonderful views from the Sierra de Tramontana. Practically the entire route is a gentle descent to the heart of the Sóller valley, or to the port’s beach. From here, you can observe the island of Dragonera, practice diving and snorkelling, or stroll through one of Mallorca's most charming coastal towns.
- 4.From Banyalbufar to Port des Canonge: This is a very simple route with gentle slopes, suitable for children. It can be done as a round trip in the same morning. The itinerary goes through an area of pines and holm oaks, bordering the coast with a beautiful maritime landscape. It reaches the small fishing village of Port des Canonge, where you can take a dip and have something to eat under the shade of the trees. The return follows the same route.
- 5.From the port of Andratx to Sant Elmo: This is a very beautiful trail that follows the southwest coast of Mallorca, offering lovely views of Andratx, the port, Dragonera, Sant Elmo, and Cala Conills. It is a summer excursion that goes through a forested area and has no difficulty.
Summer encourages more outdoor activities and taking advantage of long days to enjoy nature and the sea. What other excursions would you like us to mention on this blog?
