Excursions to See Almond Blossoms in Mallorca
February is the month of love and hearts, and in Mallorca, it's also the time when almond trees bloom after the conjunction of cold and sunlight. These delicate white flowers herald the arrival of spring and transform the island's landscape into a white and pink blanket that we love to visit.
Do you know which are the main excursions to see almond blossoms in Mallorca?
At Monport, we'll tell you about the best routes.
Almond Blossoms in the Tramuntana Mountains
One of the villages with the highest almond production is Sóller, located in the Tramuntana Mountains. In February, the valley turns white and invites you to get lost in its trails, whether on foot or by car.
From here, you can visit villages like Valldemosa or Deià and enjoy a different and fleeting landscape, as the flowers will soon give way to fruits and the pristine white will turn into bright green.
The routes starting from Sóller lead to the port, which can also be reached by tram, pass through the picturesque surrounding towns, and meander into the mountains.
A beautiful excursion to do with family or friends, which can also include interesting stops at the Sóller olive press, the La Luna sobrasada factory, or a charming café in Valldemosa, where you can try one of their unmatched potato cakes.
Visiting Almond Blossoms in the Pla de Mallorca
In the center of the island, almond blossoms stretch as far as the eye can see. From villages like Bunyola or Marratxí, you can take easy excursions on foot or by bicycle and explore the white and pink fields.
Santa María del Camí is one of the places where you can enjoy the sea of flowers that covers the land. A little further ahead, passing Inca, we return to the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains to explore the picturesque towns of Selva or Caimari.
Did you know that the almond fair is celebrated in Son Servera?
Almonds are a very important product in Mallorca, and as such, they have their own fair. In Son Servera, a municipality located to the east of the island, the Almond Blossom Fair is celebrated every year, where everyone from the farmers who care for the trees and harvest their fruit to the most famous dishes and desserts that use almonds as their main ingredient participate.
And if we approach the area of Palma, many neighborhoods and suburban areas are the setting for almond blossoms. Places like Son Sardina, el Secar de la Real, Establiments... are close enough to the Mallorcan capital for a short excursion, either in the morning or afternoon, yet far enough for nature to follow its course and bloom, heralding the arrival of spring.
The almond blossom is highly appreciated, and many countryside enthusiasts, sports lovers, and photographers do not miss this opportunity to enjoy this spectacle firsthand.
