The island's most famous markets
The curiosity of many visitors is not satisfied just by visiting the town where they are staying, but also by moving around the island to get to know all its secrets. Mallorca is beautiful from north to south, from east to west and from event to event.
At Monport we have detected that one of the favourite activities of tourists is to visit the different markets that are organised in the different villages of Mallorca.
Food, plant, handicraft or textile markets that give visitors a glimpse of what we are like. An everyday scene where you can mingle with the local shopper. A little piece of local life where you can enjoy the rhythm of life on the island.
At Monport we would like to tell you about the three most famous markets in Mallorca:
- Mercat de Sineu
Every Wednesday, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., you have an appointment in Sineu, a village in the centre of the island that becomes a meeting point for farmers and stockbreeders. The Sineu market is the most traditional on the island and has become a paradise for those looking for fresh fruit, plants and flowers, clothes, jewellery and textiles. It is an ideal place to get to know Mallorcan rural life and local agriculture.
- Santa Maria Market
Every Sunday, many islanders flock to one of Mallorca's best-known farmers' markets. Between 8 am and 1 pm, many people from all over the island come to Santa Maria to buy vegetables, flowers, fruit and handicrafts. Organic products, wine and the best cheeses.
You can also take the opportunity to stroll around the village and eat in one of the many restaurants in the village and around the Plaza Nova.
- Inca Market
One of the most important towns in Mallorca, it is home to one of the largest markets on the island, famous for its leather goods: bags, shoes, jackets, belts and top-quality products ranging from pots of different shapes, colours and sizes to homemade soaps. The market is located on Gran Via Colom every Thursday from 8 am to 1 pm.
From Monport we recommend you to let yourself be carried away by the magic of the Mallorcan markets. For its smells, its sounds and the charm of its traders and visitors.
