Viewpoint of Ses Ànimes (Torre des Verguer)
The "Torre des Verger", also called "Torre de Ses Ànimes" (Tower of Souls), exudes history and magic. Because of its panoramic view, it was built in 1579 between Banyalbufar and Estellencs as a watchtower. From there, shipping traffic was controlled, both to prevent the introduction of contagious diseases and to protect the island from possible pirate attacks. At night, the watchmen listened for hours for any sound that might alert them to the arrival of a ship: Voices, oars beating in the water....
It is said that screams were heard during the night watches. They said they were trapped souls crying for help. According to folk legend, they are the tortured souls of people who disappeared in this place under mysterious circumstances. It is also said that they weave invisible nets at night to catch those who approach this tower.
Either because of its mysterious and magical aura or because of its impressive sea views, the viewpoint of Ses Ànimes is a unique place on the island. If you want to live a wonderful experience, it is worth a visit.
Santa Catalina Viewpoint
In the Port of Sóller is the neighbourhood of Santa Catalina, a picturesque area where the fishermen of the port used to live. Along the steep, cobbled and narrow streets, you can reach the top of a hill with spectacular views: The viewpoint of Santa Catalina. From there we can admire the sea, the harbour and the mountains in all their splendour. It must be said that the port of Sóller is one of the most charming ports in Mallorca.
At the top of the hill is the 13th century hermitage, which has been the most important place of pilgrimage in the Sóller valley for decades. Around the 14th century it was destroyed by a pirate attack, but was rebuilt shortly afterwards. This ancient temple and its view of the port, with its small, authentic houses that still preserve the essence of times gone by, invite us on a journey through history. In short, the Santa Catalina viewpoint is an essential visit for anyone who wants to enjoy history and beauty.
Es Colomer Viewpoint
On the Formentor peninsula, in a typical Mediterranean enclave, there is a very special place: the Es Colomer viewpoint. A staircase carved into the rock leads us to a balcony where the sunset takes on special colours. If you want to discover the best viewpoints in Mallorca, this one will undoubtedly meet your expectations.
If you want to enjoy all the surroundings of the Es Colomer viewpoint, you can take a trip along the Formentor peninsula. The spectacular landscapes will enchant any hiker. It is worth mentioning the Albercuix watchtower, built at the end of the 16th century, in the Middle Ages, as a sentry post to guard against the arrival of corsairs on the island.
Viewpoint of Sa Foradada
Located between Valldemossa and Deià, the Sa Forada viewpoint is an essential stop. It was here that the famous poet Jacint Verdaguer admired the spectacular view and was inspired to write his poem Atlantida. No wonder, as the viewpoint is an exceptional enclave known for its breathtaking sunsets.
The Sa Foradada viewpoint is part of the Son Marroig estate, which belonged to Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria (1847-1915). The Austrian Archduke acquired these lands after marvelling at the landscape. Sa Foradada (the pierced one) is an imposing peninsula that reaches a height of 70 metres and has a huge hole 18 metres in diameter. According to Luis Salvador, it looked like "a sea monster with a watchful and large eye".
