The 6 best chiringuitos in Mallorca
Did you know that the word "chiringuito" has cuban origins? In the 19th century, Cuban sugar cane field workers would filter their coffee break through a sock, and the resulting trickle was called "chiringo."
As small huts offering coffee started to establish themselves, workers stopped preparing it themselves and began to frequent these "chiringuitos." The Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) adopted the word, and this is how we know in Spain the kiosks or bars that are located on the beach, where you can eat and drink, and which often have a table area in the sand or very close to it.
These establishments open mainly during the season, and in Mallorca, they are quite an institution.
Keep reading because at Mon Port, we have traveled the island's coast to recommend the six best chiringuitos in Mallorca.
